The purpose of this call is to bring you up to date to all that has happened.  About two months ago, just after the Mayweather-Mosley fight, I got a call from Ross Greenburg, the president of HBO Sports, who asked me frankly whether myself and Manny Pacquiao wanted to do the fight against Floyd Mayweather and I assured him after talking to Manny that was the case.  From there I have had a couple of conversations with Ross and I laid out all the terms that would be acceptable to our side and I also informed him about the concession that Manny had made about drug testing.  He got back to me in a couple of weeks and told me he had discussions with Al Haymon, representing Mayweather, and that everything looked good.  We were nearing a resolution.  The subsequent conversations with Ross detailed to me discussions he had with Al Haymon.  Nowhere were the names of Richard Schaefer or Golden Boy mentioned although I read, as you all did, Oscar’s statement that a deal was close, so I assume from that, that Haymon was keeping Golden Boy abreast of the situation.

Manny Ready For Congress

By Izah Morales, Yahoo! Southeast Asia

Pacquiao prepared for his Congressional stint just as he would for his bouts: by getting proper training. After completing his legislation course, Manny says he wants to be remembered "not just as a world-class boxer but as a passionate servant leader."

The dream of receiving a diploma is now a reality for boxer-turned-Congressman Manny Pacquiao. He finished a ten-day certificate program in Development Legislation and Governance at the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) on Friday, June 25.

Dr. Gloria Jumamil-Mercado, dean of the Graduate School of Public and Development Management at DAP, praised the attitude the congressman showed throughout the 13-session course, which was customized and designed to address the current needs of Sarangani, the province Pacquiao represents.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. proved why he is so special last Saturday, in sending Shane Mosley packing with a performance for the ages. Now, more than ever, it is time for he and Manny Pacquiao to fight. Please, don't make me beg.

Us boxing fans are pretty darn lucky nowadays. Old timers may shout about boxing not being the same, the politics getting in the way and fighters ducking each other more than they duck oncoming punches, but at this juncture in history we're also very fortunate. Two of the greatest fighters ever to lace them up. Fighting in the same era. At roughly the same age. Putting in serious work, at their absolute peak.

Manny Pacquiao - Man of the Moment

My favourite fighter today, Manny Pacquiao, is a Welterweight boxer from the Phillipines with phenomenal talent!

He started his career at 106 pounds, the Flyweight division.  Having been knocked out twice early in his career, he regrouped and joined up with world boxing trainer, Freddie Roach, and first came on the world scene with an upset knockout victory over Marco Antonio Barrera in 2003 at the Featherweight division.  He fought Mexican, Juan Manuel Marquez to a draw in his next fight in which a rematch followed 4 years later from this in 2008.

Two fights later he lost a points decision to another Mexican, the great Erik Morales, who seemed to school Manny.

Fighter of the Decade, seven-division world champion, three-time Fighter of the Year, boxing's No. 1 pound for pound fighter and No. 1 box office attraction, the best fighter of his era...call him what you want, but one thing is certain, the sport of boxing crosses over all borders when its only bonafide superhero fights, and his name is spelled:

Tecate, cerveza con carácter, demonstrates its commitment to boxing through a regional marketing campaign designed to create buzz and bring adult boxing aficionados closer to the March 13encounter between Filipino WBO Welterweight Champion Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao (50-3, 38 KO’s) and the hard-punching former title holder from Ghana, Joshua Clottey (35-3, 20 KO’s). All the talk after Pacquiao's performance last week is of a fight with Floyd Mayweather, Jr., but it is the American who needs the win for his legacy, not the other way round

The term 'running out of superlatives' to describe an elite sportsman is a bit of a cop-out, so instead I'm going to make a statement of such palpable verisimilitude it should apply as a notion of fact: Manny Pacquiao now ranks as one of the top ten pound-for-pound fighters of all time.

There.
