There is breaking news to report regarding Saturday night's "Gateway to Greatness" event at Scottrade Center.  Promoter Don King has announced that Floyd "Money" Mayweather, Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield and "Iron" Mike Tyson will attend.

This story is blowing up in the boxing world.  Don's been courting Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. for the past few weeks, wining and dining with him in South Florida.  Manny Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, says that if Don King signed "Money," the superfight between Floyd and Pacquiao would get made.

The purpose of this call is to bring you up to date to all that has happened.  About two months ago, just after the Mayweather-Mosley fight, I got a call from Ross Greenburg, the president of HBO Sports, who asked me frankly whether myself and Manny Pacquiao wanted to do the fight against Floyd Mayweather and I assured him after talking to Manny that was the case.  From there I have had a couple of conversations with Ross and I laid out all the terms that would be acceptable to our side and I also informed him about the concession that Manny had made about drug testing.  He got back to me in a couple of weeks and told me he had discussions with Al Haymon, representing Mayweather, and that everything looked good.  We were nearing a resolution.  The subsequent conversations with Ross detailed to me discussions he had with Al Haymon.  Nowhere were the names of Richard Schaefer or Golden Boy mentioned although I read, as you all did, Oscar’s statement that a deal was close, so I assume from that, that Haymon was keeping Golden Boy abreast of the situation.

Floyd Mayweather, Jr. proved why he is so special last Saturday, in sending Shane Mosley packing with a performance for the ages. Now, more than ever, it is time for he and Manny Pacquiao to fight. Please, don't make me beg.

Us boxing fans are pretty darn lucky nowadays. Old timers may shout about boxing not being the same, the politics getting in the way and fighters ducking each other more than they duck oncoming punches, but at this juncture in history we're also very fortunate. Two of the greatest fighters ever to lace them up. Fighting in the same era. At roughly the same age. Putting in serious work, at their absolute peak.

Q:

Last week when I asked you about remaining undefeated, you said that wasn't what was driving you.  Let me ask you this. As far as the legacy of your career is concerned, is this fight about enhancing it or preserving it?

Mayweather

Every fight at this point is always about...it all depends on who the opponent is. At this point, it's about enhancing it.  So like I said before, I think Shane's a solid welterweight. He's been around the sport for a long, long time and he's done some things in this sport.  I've done a lot of things in this sport.  I've done a lot of things that a lot of fighters weren't able to do in this sport and didn't do in this sport.  So like I said before, I think with Shane Mosley, it's going to of course, enhance my legacy.

Q:You mentioned that Karl Dargan and Rock, that you're sparring with them.  They've been a little bit inactive lately, but I was just curious of your impressions of them as they're both Naazimm's relatives obviously, son and nephew.

This camp has been like a family and I'm happy to have all of them contributing.  They have great backgrounds, and Naazim Richardson trains them.  Karl Dargan is very fast, a little taller than Mayweather, but has very fast hands.  I think that a lot of it is the reaction time that I'm dealing with when I work with Karl Dargan to emulate Mayweather.  We try to figure out different ways and different strategies of attacking.
