SEATTLE — A search helicopter spotted the body of the son of boxing promoter Bob Arum on a Washington state mountainside Friday afternoon, five days after searchers began looking for him in North Cascades National Park, authorities said.
The body belonging to John Arum, an experienced mountain climber, was seen at about the 7,700-foot level of the 8,500-foot Storm King mountain, park spokeswoman Kerry Olson said.
It wasn't possible Friday afternoon to either reach or retrieve the body, but Olson said it was clear to searchers in the helicopter that the 49-year-old Seattle environmental attorney was dead.

BURY ring ace Scott Quigg will challenge for a vacant international super-bantamweight title when he returns to action in his hometown next month.
Quigg, 21, will face a selected opponent at Castle Leisure Centre on Saturday September 25, with the show being filmed by Hatton TV.
Bury council recently lifted a boxing ban to help Quigg achieve his dreams and a 1000 sell-out crowd are expected to roar him on in his big fight.
His promoter Ricky Hatton said: “I am excited about all my fighters, but Scott’s progress has been incredible.
There is breaking news to report regarding Saturday night's "Gateway to Greatness" event at Scottrade Center. Promoter Don King has announced that Floyd "Money" Mayweather, Evander "The Real Deal" Holyfield and "Iron" Mike Tyson will attend.
This story is blowing up in the boxing world. Don's been courting Floyd "Money" Mayweather Jr. for the past few weeks, wining and dining with him in South Florida. Manny Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, says that if Don King signed "Money," the superfight between Floyd and Pacquiao would get made.
Both main event fighters, David Tua (51-3-1, 43KO's) and Monte Barrett (34-9, 20KO's) weighed-in today on the boardwalk outside of the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City in anticipation of their upcoming heavyweight title fight, Saturday night on PPV. Both fighters looked to be in great shape with Tua tipping the scales at 237 1/2 lbs. while Barrett weighed-in at 225 lbs. The show, T-N-T at the Tropicana, is promoted by Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing and will start at 7PM. The PPV telecast will go live on the air at 8PM ET. Tua vs. Barrett is scheduled for twelve rounds, and will be for Tua's WBO Asian Pacific and WBO Oriental titles.
TONY JEFFRIES will move closer to his first professional title when he has his first eight rounder later this month.
The Olympic bronze medallist (7-0) meets in form Pole Michael Banbula (10-25-3) at Rainton Meadows Arena, Houghton-le-Spring and Friday July 23.
Banbula, 29, and based in Surrey has won his last three fights and ended the career of former British and WBU light-heavyweight champion Tony Oakey when he last boxed, in May.
Promoter Frank Maloney said: “This is all part of Tony’s learning and if he keeps progressing he could have an international ten rounder later this year or even his first title bout.
“Banbula is from a winning stable and although he win over Oakey was hardly noticed, beating Tony will put him on the map
“I know Tony has only had seven fights, but I have no worries about putting him an eight rounder. If you’re good enough, you’re ready.”
Top of the bill is Stuey’s Hall (8-0-1) who makes the first defence of his British bantamweight title against Martin Power (21-5) in a rematch.
The pair fought a torrid non-title war last September when Hall stopped the former champion in the eighth round,
Promoter Frank Maloney is ending the season with a bumper bill, and a second title fight sees another Londoner Matthew Marsh face Scot Kris Hughes for the vacant Commonwealth super-bantamweight title.
In a third title fight, Nigel Wright (21-6) who conquered former world champion Alex Arthur in his last battle contests the vacant English light-welterweight crown against Wolverhampton’s Dean Harrison (16-3).
