The last time Ricky Hatton was in London to fight was in December 2004 when he faced American Light Welterweight, Ray Olivera. He returns on March 26th but this time promoting the eagerly anticipated Light Middleweight contest between Anthony Small and Sam Webb.

The controversial Anthony Small, from Deptford in London, will make the second defence of his British Light Middleweight title when he takes on Webb at Dagenham’s Goresbrook Leisure Centre.

“It’s great to finally stage a show in London,” said Ricky Hatton. “I received tremendous support on the six occasions I fought in London, especially in my contest against Jon Thaxton for the British Light Welterweight title. Hopefully the fight between Anthony Small and Sam Webb can produce as good a contest as we did that night.”

In his last fight Anthony Small (23-1) narrowly outpointed Wigan’s Thomas McDonagh and retained the titles he won in fantastic fashion against Matthew Hall, who he stopped in eight rounds last July. After the close decision against McDonagh, Small will be looking to make a statement against Webb, who also narrowly outpointed Thomas McDonagh last year.

Sam Webb (15-1) fought three times last year defeating Max Maxwell, Paul Morby and the aforementioned McDonagh, all on points. The 28-year-old’s 96-95 defeat of McDonagh though was the first, and only, time he has gone more than eight rounds.

The fight will be Hatton Promotions third televised bill on Sky Sports’ Friday Fight Night this year, having already shown the British title fight between Rob Norton and David Dolan, and the recent European clash between Scott Lawton and Leva Kirakosyan.
